Dear Friend,
We are entering into a momentous week. Not to overstate the moment, but starting this coming Thursday, in a small room in Rome, the direction of the Church and the world will be decided for the foreseeable future as the Cardinals enter into the Conclave to elect the next pope. While the scenario is daunting (it makes for good ratings at movies), we are painting high stakes in order to stir anxiety, but to remind us of our hope and even our role in this process.
As a church, we trust that God's Holy Spirit will be present and inspire the Cardinals to make the right decision. For our part, we can and should pray for all the Cardinals. May they set aside pride, ambition, appearance, popularity, and all other facades to see the heart of the one God desires to be our next pope. And may the new pope also put to the side these illusions so that he may truly speak God's word and lend the light of kindness and mercy into the darkness of the world.
Let us pray for the election of the new pope!

Children's Garage Sale
This year's Children's Garage Sale is on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 8am - 12pm. This event will be held in the Saint Andrew Gymnasium at 1658 West Addison (corner of Addison and Paulina). The first donation date is this Sunday, May 4th from 9am-noon. The rest of the donation days and times are this coming week. See the flyer in the bulletin for specific dates and times. Start cleaning out your closets, garages, attics and storage units now!

Get Your Portrait Photo Taken!
Saint Andrew is holding portrait photography session for our upcoming parish and school photo directory. These sessions are free and everyone who participates will receive a free 8 x 10 photo as well as have the option to purchase other photos and printed items. For participating, you'll also receive a free copy of the photo directory when it is completed. Participants must reserve their time for the photo session and we are currently registering families and individuals for June 4 - 7. Mother's Day Collection
Next week's second collection on Mother's Day will support Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Fr. Sergio's New Appointment
We are saddened by the recent announcement that Fr. Sergio Romo, pastor of Saint Andrew Parish for 16 years has been appointed by Archbishop Cardinal Cupich to be the new pastor at Saint Gertrude Parish in Edgewater even as we celebrate this next step in his ministry!
Fr. Sergio will have his final Mass at Saint Andrew Parish at 4:00pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025 with a reception to follow. We encourage parishioners to attend!
