What an amazing time!
We were blessed this past Thursday to learn of the news that the Cardinals of the Catholic Church elected a new pope and one who was born right here in Chicago!
Pope Leo XIV is the first American to be elected pope and will bring a great wealth of experience as he leads the Church in sharing the message of Jesus Christ. Let us pray for him as he begins his ministry!
And moving from the global stage to the local, as we send out this email, the Children's Garage Sale is still going on in the gymnasium at Saint Andrew. Please come by to find slightly used items that are perfect for children (and grand children) who may need toys, clothes, strollers, and more!
The Children's Garage Sale takes place even as we prepare to celebrate Mother's Day tomorrow. Mindful of the gratitude we bear and bearing prayers to sustain those who are mothers, there will be a special blessing of mothers at all the Masses this weekend. At the end of Mass, please come up during the presider's instruction. May you be forever encouraged and strengthened in your vocation!

Mother's Day Collection
At all the Masses this weekend we will hold a second collection on Mother's Day to support Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Your donation helps provide critical assistance to those in need throughout Cook and Lake counties. Please be generous in supporting the vital work of Catholic Charities. Get Your Portrait Photo Taken!
Saint Andrew is holding portrait photography session for our upcoming parish and school photo directory. These sessions are free and everyone who participates will receive a free 8 x 10 photo as well as have the option to purchase other photos and printed items. For participating, you'll also receive a free copy of the photo directory when it is completed. Participants must reserve their time for the photo session and we are currently registering families and individuals for June 4 - 7. The online portal for registration is not open at the same time registrations will take place in the back of church (Sunday Mass times).
Fund A Need - Wearing the Green
Shine a light on Saint Andrew Parish! Our "Wearin' the Green 2025 Fund-a-Need" campaign is in its final stretch, and we need your support to bring vital exterior lighting and security cameras to our campus.
We've raised a fantastic $74,435 towards our $85,000 goal, thanks to your generosity and a $25,000 grant from Cubs Charities. Just $10,565 stands between us and a brighter, more secure future, with the project slated for completion this summer.

Fr. Sergio's New Appointment
We are saddened by the recent announcement that Fr. Sergio Romo, pastor of Saint Andrew Parish for 16 years has been appointed by Archbishop Cardinal Cupich to be the new pastor at Saint Gertrude Parish in Edgewater even as we celebrate this next step in his ministry!
Fr. Sergio will have his final Mass at Saint Andrew Parish at 4:00pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025 with a reception to follow. We encourage parishioners to attend!
