Holy Week and Easter Update
I hope you are having a great week! It was good seeing so many of your children over the weekend with the Service Project and the Parish Mission.
(See photos below!)
There is not another class for our Confirmation program for almost a month (
Sunday, May 19
for RE students and
Thursday, May 23
for students at Saint Andrew School).
But there are a few things I will keep encouraging our students to do in preparation for Confirmation (only 9 months away).
In addition to the Service Projects which we have planned (must attend 1 of 4) there are eight hours of stewardship that must be done. Many students are working this Friday at the Fish Fry and that is a great way to complete the Stewardship Hours.
Another opportunity is to join the Spring Cleaning work crew that is meeting this
Saturday, April 13 from 9am to 11am
. If interested in helping with this service opportunity, please contact Megan at
Another requirement that I have set for our students is to watch a Baptism and a Confirmation and write a reflection on what they observed. The reflection questions can be found in the handbook which I have included in the link below.
A great opportunity to watch both at one time is to attend the Easter Vigil which will be held on
Saturday, April 20, 2019
. I actually recommend for anyone who has never attended the Easter Vigil do this at some point in time. The entire Christian mystery is celebrated in this liturgy and it is very beautiful to participate in it.
Knowing that many people are away at this time, there is the opportunity to observe Baptisms at Saint Andrew every first and third Sunday of the months after the 10:00am Mass and also the ability to observe a Confirmation at Holy Name Cathedral on May 7 in the evening. Please let me know if you have any questions about these opportunities.
This may be my last correspondence until after Easter, so please have a prayerful and fulfilling Holy Week and a very Happy Easter!
