Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that you are doing well. I also hope to see you tomorrow during the first annual Oktoberfest at Saint Andrew! It should be a great time, even if there is a little rain during the festivities.

I'd like to draw your attention to two things

First - Classes for Confirmation are starting again. Our student in RE will have their class this Sunday, September 20 from 3:30pm to 4:45. Our students at Saint Andrew School will have a class during the school day on Thursday, October 1.

Second - The required Confirmation Retreat is coming up on Sunday, October 4. It will be held at the Shrine of Saint Mother Cabrini in Lincoln Park. I have shortened the hours of the retreat slightly and it will be held from 9:30am to 2:30pm. You are responsible for the drop off and pick up of your child(ren). This will be at the front doors of the shrine at 2520 N. Lakeview Ave in Chicago. Lunch will be provided (Subway sandwich boxes). Please let me know if there are any allergies or dietary needs. More information will be coming out about the retreat next week

In the mean time, have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you.

Blessings,

David Heimann

Faith In Action Projects

The expectation is for each Confirmation candidate to do one Faith In Action project in each of 3 categories -

A - Care for the earth
B - Service to those on the margins and
C - Service to the church.

In each of the first two categories (A&B), I will provide an organized experience allowing students to do the project together. The first of these will be in May and in June, I will also organize similar opportunities in the Fall. A student does not need to go on all of the organized activities, just one from each category, or they can do an independent project in those areas so long as they coordinate it with me.

The third category, serving the church, can be done in a myriad of ways and is done independently. Altar serving, helping with Family Mass, volunteering at Wearin the Green, parish activities, etc. All of these qualify. I will make some specific opportunities available to you in subsequent emails. Below are opportunities to sign up and participate in the organized projects for category A (in green) and category B (in purple).
