Volunteers Needed - Fall 2019 (Sept/October)
We're in need of some help!
Put your talents to use with one or more of the following volunteer opportunities.
Special Request! Housing for Retreat Missionaries
October 6 & 7, 2019
We need help to house 12 young adult missionaries in homes for two nights on October 6th and 7th. They are coming to present a retreat for our 8th grade Confirmation candidates on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Shrine of Saint Frances Cabrini. In the past, families who have hosted missionaries have shared how AWESOME the experience was, and what a great impact it had on them.
Would you be willing to be a host?
The individuals who will present the retreat are from the NET Ministry team. This is a group of young adults who travel the country for one year as missionaries working specifically with young people. As part of our agreement to have them present our retreat, we need to find host families to house them for two nights.
The missionaries are not allowed to stay alone, so they come together in groups of 2 or more. The expectation would be to provide
a space to sleep
(it can be a bed, a couch, or a floor) and
for two nights, Sunday, October 6 and Monday, October 7, 2019. In addition to housing the missionaries, the commitment is to provide them with
dinner on Sunday night, breakfast on Monday, and breakfast with a sack lunch on Tuesday
when they leave.
Email David Heimann to help welcome these young people to Saint Andrew!

Adults and Ages 14-15 (accompanied by an adult)
Make a big impact in a short amount of time by volunteering with Saint Andrew at GCFD. In the past, volunteers have sorted pears and peppers, checked bread for expiration dates, and repackaged bulk items such as rice and beans. Click on the link below to sign up!
Clean Up Crew
October 20, 1:00 - 2:30pm
Who knows if we'll be raking leaves or shoveling snow - Chicago weather is a crazy thing! Get outside and practice care for creation by volunteering to clean up the sidewalks and easeways around Saint Andrew Church and school. Some rakes are available, but bring your own if you can! Gardening gloves recommended.
Please email Megan Daigle to confirm volunteering position - will need your contact in case of bad weather cancellation!
